“NHCLC Responds to Historic Flooding in Louisiana and Mississippi”

Posted on

The National Hispanic Christian Leadership Conference and Convoy of Hope, the NHCLC’s partner for Compassion ministry are responding to historic flooding in Louisiana and Mississippi after the torrential rains that have fallen. Many rivers are cresting several feet above record level, which means areas that have never flooded before are now flooding.

Our Disaster Services team will arrive in the affected areas today with equipment, food, water and relief supplies.

"We have already been in contact with our partners in the area," says Stacy Lamb, U.S. response director for Disaster Services for Convoy of Hope. "We want to make sure we deploy relief supplies when and where they are most needed."

More widespread flooding is expected across multiple states in the coming days.

“Our desire is to show the love of God by providing needed resources to help those who have lost everything,” said Eddie Rentz, Vice President of Compassion Does for the NHCLC. “I love what Dr. Rodriguez continually challenges each individual and church to be light in a dark world.”

Dr. Gus Reyes, COO of the NHCLC said “Our hearts go out to those living in Louisiana and Mississippi during these difficult days. We call upon the families and churches of the NHCLC to pray for those adversely impacted by the floods.”

“Silence and inaction are not options. We must respond, we must be light to those hurting and effected by the storms, said Rev. Samuel Rodriguez, President of the NHCLC.

Our churches can help make a difference by generously giving to the flooding relief by visiting https://nhclc.org/donations. Every dollar is tax deductible and will go to help victims of this disaster.

Pastors, please consider presenting the need to your congregation and take a special offering to assist those in need.

Thank you for caring!
