OVIEDO (FBW) – Southern Baptist leader Richard Land will be honored with a lifetime achievement award during “The Awakening 2013: Fighting for the Soul of America” conference, April 19-20. The conference, to be held at First Baptist Church in Oviedo, will also featured more than 60 national religious and policy leaders, including U.S. Rep. Michele Bachman, R-Minn., Jim Bob and Michelle Duggar of “19 Kids and Counting” television show, and Rev. Samuel Rodriquez, president of the National Hispanic Christian Leadership Conference. Liberty Counsel and the Freedom Federation are the conference organizers and will honor Land for his nearly 25 years of service as president of the Southern Baptist Ethics and Religious Liberty Commission. Land, 66, will retire from the ERLC June 1, and will become president of Southern Evangelical Seminary in Charlotte July 1. ERLC trustees, on March 26, elected Russell Moore as Land’s successor. Moore, 41, currently is dean of the school of theology and senior vice president for academic administration at Southern Baptist Theological Seminary. The Awakening conference will address a range of issues, including religious freedom, immigration, sanctity of human life, homosexuality, and Islam and national security. “Today we face unprecedented threats to our faith and freedom, as the government is forcing religious organizations and businesses to provide abortion drugs through the ObamaCare mandate. Our basic liberties and moral foundations are under attack,” according to conference organizers. “We have come to a critical crossroad. The future of America will be determined in our lifetime by our actions. What we do now will echo throughout history.” For more information on the conference, see TheAwakeningUSA.org or call 800-671-1776. READ MORE:  http://www.gofbw.com/news.asp?ID=14950
