Conference Highlights Threats to Religious Liberty
May 30, 2017

The president of the National Hispanic Christian Leadership Conference says to silence religious freedom is to silence the moral conscience of America. Speaking at the 2013 National Religious Freedom Conference in Washington, D.C.,  Rev. Rodriguez called people of all faiths to come together to build a firewall against “unprecedented” attempts by the government to violate religious liberty. The day-long, invitation-only conference brought together representatives from the Catholic, evangelical Christian, mainline Protestant, Latter-day Saint, Eastern Orthodox, Jewish, Seventh-day Adventist, Muslim and Sikh faith communities. Rodriguez told those gathered the IRS audits of Christian and conservative groups and Obamacare’s birth control mandate are examples of the dangerous road America is traveling. “I never would have believed that in my generation I would see this taking place,” he said. “So silence is not an option. Today’s complacency will lead to tomorrow’s captivity and religious freedom stands as the womb by which all the other liberties emerge and flourish.” Rev. Rodriguez said Uncle Sam needs to be reminded that “he may be our earthly uncle, but he is not and never will be our heavenly father.” READ MORE:   MEDIA COVERAGE C-Span Video Coverage – Religious Diversity Samuel Rodriguez:  Religious Freedom Is an Endangered Species Conference Highlights Threats to Religious Liberty Religious Liberty is ‘Endangered,’ Warns Hispanic Christian Leader Religious Liberty and Complacent Christianity Brody File: Rev.
