Pazyryk is one of the remotest places on earth. It is located on an 8,000-foot-high plateau surrounded by 14,000 foot mountains in Siberia.

Pazyryk is empty and cold. No settlements have ever been found. It was mostly forgotten until a rumor that gold was possibly located in an ancient Scythian burial site motivated an expedition to the area.

The expedition was led by Russian archaeologist, Sergei Rudenko around 1927. The excited team found the 2300-year-old burial site and poured boiling water on the mounds to loosen the frozen soil.

After weeks of hard labor, the tomb of a Scythian warrior chieftain and a woman were found. But disappointment crushed the team when they discovered that grave robbers had stolen all the gold.

The crew voted to abandon the site and return home when Rudenko persuaded them to dig deeper. To their amazement, they uncovered dozens of well-preserved artifacts including the oldest known woven carpet (now the most valuable carpet in the world). After the team arrived home, they were told that the artifacts were priceless and worth far more than the gold.

What the archeologists thought was a complete failure turned out to be one of the greatest archaeological discoveries of the century.

Don’t give up on God’s plan. There are “hidden blessings” waiting for you. God has planted everything you need to fulfill His purpose.

The Bible says in Philippians 4:19, “And my God shall supply all your need according to His riches in glory by Christ Jesus…”
