Constant Improvement

Arthur was reared in a devout Christian family that believed in hard work.

Arthur knew he wanted to build a successful business. He decided to pick one thing and constantly improve it until it was the best. Only then would he sell his product.

While working for a railroad, he first saved money. Then he picked his product. He had noticed that one of the most consistent deliveries on the railroad were eggs. So he decided to buy chickens.

He and his wife bought 50 chickens and cared for them in their backyard. As he watched the chickens he next decided to switch from eggs and sell the chickens.

Arthur noticed that stress negatively affected the health of the flock, so he created a more comfortable environment for the birds. Next, he experimented until he found a food combination that increased the size and health of the chickens. Finally, based on careful research, he imported leghorn chickens from Texas to improve his stock.

Arthur’s dedication to constant improvement paid off as his chicken business steadily expanded. Soon he quit his job and sold his chickens full-time. He eventually trained his son Frank to continue to develop the business.

One of Arthur’s early sales slogans said, “If you can find a better chicken, buy it”, confident that his chickens were the best.

Perdue Chicken does $9.5 Billion Dollars per year in sales. All because Arthur Perdue believed in “constant improvement.”

What God has called you to do deserves constant improvement.  Always give God your best.
