Get Help

What do Rudolph, Ole and James have in common?

All three were exceptional inventors who lacked basic business sense. They were brilliant but refused to ask for help.

Rudolph was fascinated by the emerging automobile industry and experimented until he created the best engine of his time. His engine performed better and lasted longer but Rudolph’s business completely failed because he would not allow anyone to help market his engine. Rudolph Diesel was miles ahead of his competition but failed because he was bad with business. His refusal to get help doomed his company.

Ole Evinrude invented the first outboard boat motor but seemed hopeless at organization and sales. Just when everything appeared lost, his wife Bess used her remarkable business skills to save the business.

James Murray Spangler invented the first vacuum cleaner but was useless at marketing. His invention might have disappeared from history if Willam Hoover had not stepped in to sell the product.

Whatever you do, get help to do it better. Combine the gifts God has given you with the gifts he has given others. You can do more when you get help.

The Bible says in Ecclesiastes 4:12, “A person standing alone can be attacked and defeated, but two can stand back-to-back and conquer.” NLT
