Recently Amy and I had a series of happy experiences. It began in Chicago at an event hosted by a special friend. The conference was filled both with exuberant and positive people but also with God’s anointing and blessings.
After I spoke on Saturday morning, we flew back to Kentucky for another commitment. That weekend we also celebrated our son Jonathan’s birthday and witnessed our grandson Levi’s baptism.
Sunday afternoon we were in Cincinnati when the unexpected happened. Amy suddenly became violently sick. It was so bad we immediately checked into a local hotel.
Through the night Amy’s condition worsened. I called our doctor, Jonathan and Allison and some close friends for prayer. Our doctor advised me, and I carefully followed his instructions.
We were in the hotel for three days while Amy slowly recovered. But what happened in the hotel is the reason for this Ballpoint.
When the hotel staff learned of Amy’s situation, they ALL went into action to take care of us. The reception staff repeatedly checked on us and supplied water and (free) food. The housekeeping staff provided everything we needed and offered to help in ways they were not paid to do.
We were overwhelmed by the kindness of people who barely knew us. They were relentless in their caring support. When we checked out, I received a bill that was discounted by hundreds of dollars.
Kindness is always right. Kindness is something God highly values and blesses. Kindness is goodness and love in action. Always be kind.
The Bible says in I Corinthians 13:4, “Love is patient. Love is kind.” NIV
