On one of my speaking tours of Australia, my family and I stayed in Melbourne. We were accommodated in a small, charming hotel on the edge of a stunning city park.

Early each morning, I ran through the park, under gigantic eucalyptus trees, as hundreds of bright colored birds flew overhead. It was a paradise.

I spoke at a convention on the first weekend, took a break during the week, then spoke at another convention the next weekend. The final Sunday I spoke at a church where a woman introduced her new song “Shout to the Lord” which became an international hit. It was an amazing experience.

While in Australia, I encountered a man who had enjoyed a long career as an Arctic explorer. He had been an heroic figure in Australian life until falsely accused of lying about his exploits. Although innocent, the press turned against him. During this traumatic time his wife died.

I watched this man during an interview. When the journalist asked him how he viewed his life, he surprised everyone by praising God. He expressed happy thankfulness for his blessings and said, in every circumstance, he simply trusted God.

Not long after this, he was exonerated. Suddenly he was a hero again. But I have never forgotten his example. He trusted God NO MATTER WHAT, and God honored and blessed him.

Whatever happens to you, always remember to thank and trust God. He will NEVER fail you.

The Bible says in Proverbs 3:5, “Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and lean not on your own understanding.” NIV
