The Christian community across the United States is gearing up for the National Unity Weekend 2024, taking place on June 8th and 9th. This annual event invites churches and organizations to come together in a concerted effort to proclaim the transformative message of racial and ethnic unity from the pulpits and demonstrate God's love through tangible actions in their local communities.

The National Hispanic Christian Leadership Conference (NHCLC) joins this initiative, calling on all its members and chapters nationwide to participate and demonstrate their faith by sharing the message of racial and ethnic unity found in the Bible.

"It is vital for the church to take an active role in promoting unity and love in our communities, thus demonstrating the true message of Christ," states Rev. Samuel Rodríguez, president of the NHCLC and member of the advisory board of National Unity Weekend.

Rev. Rodríguez emphasizes that this initiative is an opportunity for believers to align their racial perspectives with the teachings of Jesus and be part of the solution. "It is a call to action to demonstrate God's love and our unity in Christ, regardless of racial, ethnic, cultural, socioeconomic, or denominational differences. Together, we can make a significant difference and show the world the transformative power of love and unity in Christ," he emphasized.

The National Unity Weekend is a recent initiative, inspired by God and founded by Derek Grier, founding pastor of Grace Church in Dumfries, Virginia. This annual event, celebrated every second weekend of June, positions the Christ-centered church as a pivotal force in guiding society toward racial unity.

During this weekend, churches across the country will focus on teaching and preaching about racial unity from a biblical perspective, using passages such as Acts 10:34, Galatians 3:28, and John 13:34. Additionally, volunteers are encouraged to come together to serve underserved communities, demonstrating the love in action that the Gospel exhorts (Matthew 5:16, 1 John 3:18, Titus 3:8).
