Recently Amy and I went to the Jersey Shore to visit her parents. We didn’t expect such an adventure.
We drove the 500 miles on a Thursday. I knew the forecast for the route called for rain but did not expect a monsoon. We spent hours of the trip creeping through downpours so intense we couldn’t see the cars in front of us.
Somewhere in Maryland our air conditioning changed to heat (it was July). Just before we crossed into Pennsylvania, we were detoured around a major accident.
The air conditioning then went crazy. The fan would blow at high speed, and we couldn’t turn it off.
We arrived at Amy’s parents’ house 13 and a half hours after we left. I spent part of the night searching the internet for a shop that could fix our car.
I got up at 5:30 Friday morning and drove to a car dealership so I could be the first one there.
I stood in front of the door waiting for them to open. They were late.
I sat in a lounge for an hour and a half. A technician appeared with pictures of my air conditioning wiring that had been badly chewed by squirrels.
Two hours and almost a thousand dollars later I returned to my in-law’s house.
I stopped in front of their home and thanked God for leading me to a repair shop that could help me without an appointment. I praised God for the good He would bring from my experience. I felt God’s peace.
When things go wrong, trust God and focus on “getting it done “. Don’t complain. Find a way to win.
And, we had a fabulous visit.
