In response to the recent decisions of the United States Supreme Court regarding birthright citizenship and women’s sports, Rev. Samuel Rodriguez and Dr. Joseph Castleberry of the National Hispanic Christian Leadership Conference issue the following statement:

“Now that the Supreme Court has issued its decision regarding birthright citizenship, we encourage Congress to work with the White House to finally bring this issue to closure in our generation through comprehensive immigration reform.

We continue to support an immigration solution that respects the rule of law, permanently secures our borders, stops illegal immigration and human trafficking, and ensures that those involved in criminal activity are deported. At the same time, we believe Congress should establish a permanent pathway for those who were brought to this country as children, as President Trump has previously supported, while also addressing the workforce needs of key sectors of our economy through lawful worker visa programs. Such reforms should preserve family unity for those who have lived and contributed to our nation for decades without granting blanket amnesty or automatic citizenship.

We believe America can uphold both the rule of law and the God-given dignity of every human being. We remain committed to advocating for immigration policies that strengthen families, secure our borders, and reflect both justice and compassion.

We also applaud the Supreme Court’s decision affirming fairness in women’s sports. We are thankful that science and our Judeo-Christian value system won the day. Every woman and girl deserves the opportunity to compete on a fair and level playing field, and this decision represents an important affirmation of truth, fairness, and the protection of women’s athletics.”
