Icon Productions has announced that Pastor Samuel Rodriguez, president of the National Hispanic Christian Leadership Conference, has joined The Resurrection of the Christ: Part One as a brand ambassador for the upcoming film directed by Mel Gibson.
Rodriguez’s involvement began after Gibson invited him to visit the film’s production in Italy, where he spent time with the cast, filmmakers, creative team, and other faith leaders during filming. The set visit led to an ongoing partnership focused on helping churches and ministry leaders engage audiences around the rerelease of The Passion of the Christ (Sept. 10-17) and upcoming The Resurrection of the Christ (Part One: May 6, 2027; Part Two: May 25, 2028).
As a brand ambassador, Rodriguez will work with pastors, faith leaders, and Christian organizations across the country to promote the film and encourage conversations about the message of Christ’s resurrection.
Rodriguez said he views the film as an opportunity to share the hope of the Gospel with audiences around the world.
“The Resurrection of Jesus Christ is the defining event in human history. I am honored to serve alongside Mel Gibson and this remarkable team in helping bring this story to audiences around the world at a time when so many people are searching for hope, purpose, and truth,” Rodriguez said. “My prayer is that this film will inspire a new generation to encounter the transformative power of Jesus Christ and remind audiences everywhere that redemption and new life are possible through Him.”

Faith-based films continue to draw significant audiences, and churches increasingly seek opportunities to engage their communities through storytelling and culture. Rodriguez said he believes The Resurrection of the Christ provides an opportunity for outreach and gospel-centered conversations. Through his role as a brand ambassador, he will help connect churches, pastors and ministry leaders with the film as its release approaches.
Pastor Samuel Rodriguez is the lead pastor of New Season, one of America’s most influential megachurches, and president of the National Hispanic Christian Leadership Conference (NHCLC), which represents millions of Christians worldwide.
Rodriguez has advised three U.S. Presidents and is the first Latino to participate in multiple presidential inauguration ceremonies. He is also a best-selling author of 12 books and serves as producer of seven faith-based films, including Breakthrough, Flamin Hot, and Dream King.
Rodriguez has been recognized by CNN, Fox News, The New York Times, Time Magazine, Univision, Telemundo, and NBC as America’s most influential Hispanic Christian leader. In 2024 NBC described him as “one of the most influential figures in American politics today.” Above all, he is dedicated to magnifying the name of Jesus through every aspect of his ministry and life, giving God all the glory for his influence and impact.
