Rev. Samuel Rodriguez, president of the National Hispanic Christian Leadership Conference (NHCLC), was honored by the Honorable Miguel A. Romero Lugo, Mayor of San Juan, with an official recognition celebrating his lifetime legacy and the 25th anniversary of the NHCLC.
The recognition was presented on behalf of the mayor by Dr. Daniel Albelo Ortiz, advisor to the mayor and director of the Office of Faith-Based Affairs and Community Entities for the Capital City of San Juan, during the closing session of CAP 2026 on July 12 at La Senda Antigua Church in Toa Alta, Puerto Rico.
The proclamation named Rodriguez one of the most influential Latino Christian leaders in Puerto Rico and around the world, honoring his leadership, calling and lifelong devotion to proclaiming the Gospel of Jesus Christ. It also cited the impact of the ministries and initiatives he has led, which have brought hope, encouragement and spiritual restoration to hundreds of thousands of people and families.
The recognition further acknowledged Rodriguez’s service as a pastor, author, educator, filmmaker, and trusted advisor to presidents and heads of state, noting the lasting influence of his ministry across generations.
“This honor belongs first and foremost to God, whose grace and faithfulness have made every step of this journey possible,” said Rev. Samuel Rodriguez, president of the NHCLC. “For 25 years, our mission has remained unchanged: to lift up the name of Jesus, proclaim the truth of the Gospel and serve others with conviction and compassion. To God be all the glory. I receive this recognition on behalf of my family, the NHCLC team and the thousands of pastors and leaders who have faithfully answered God’s call alongside us.”
During the presentation, Albelo shared that Rodriguez’s preaching and ministry had personally encouraged him to persevere in his own calling, helping shape the path that ultimately led him to serve in a leadership role alongside the Mayor of San Juan.
The recognition concluded by honoring Rodriguez’s extraordinary contributions to the spiritual, social and emotional well-being of society, celebrating his vision, leadership, firm commitment and enduring legacy.
